STORY SUMMARY

METAL GEAR	METAL GEAR 2 SOLID SNAKE
Late 1980's Deep in South Africa, 200 kilometers North of Galzburg, Outer Heaven born. An armed fortress nation established by a mercenary who was at the same time a hero and a maniac. 1990 High-tech Special Force Group FOX HOUND formed as a counter measure against sectional warfare and terrorist activities. First commander-in-chief, Big Boss. 1995 Outer Heaven Crisis. In Outer Heaven, a top-secret weapon is under development which could change the face of world warfare. In fear, the various Western Governments called upon FOX HOUND to infiltrate Outer Heaven and gather information about this secret weapon. In response, the First Commander-in-Chief of FOX HOUND, Big Boss, sent into Outer heaven the best agent of FOX HOUND, code named Grey Fox. The mission was named "Operation Intrude N312". A few days later, communication with Grey Fox was cut off, with the last interrupted transmission "Metal Gear..." Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Western Governments gave FOX HOUND the order for a second operation. This time, rookie agent bearing the code name Solid Snake was given the assignment. The mission was named "Operation Intrude N313". Entering Outer Heaven alone, Snake made contact with local resistance members Diane, Jennifer, and resistance leader Schneider. With their help, Snake successfully located and rescued Grey Fox. From Grey Fox, Snake learned about the nuclear-capable bi-pedal mobile tank called "Metal Gear". Outer Heaven is planning to use the Metal Gear to establish itself as a military power in the world. Follow up mission was ordered for Snake to locate and destroy Metal Gear. Infiltrating deeper into Outer Heaven, Snake found and rescued the developer of the Metal Gear, Doctor Pettrovich, and his daughter, Elen. And from Doctor Pettrovich, Snake learned how the Metal Gear can be destroyed. As Snake got closer to Metal Gear, because of encountering traps that appeared to be set specifically for him, Snake started to suspect that he had been watched by the enemy the entire time. By the trick elevator that went straight down 100 floors underground, Snake finally reached Metal Gear. After successfully destroying Metal Gear, Snake came face to face with the commander of Outer Heaven who had been waiting for him. The commander of Outer Heaven was no other than the First Commander-in-Chief of FOX HOUND and the leader of Operation Intrude N313 - Big Boss. The original intention of Big Boss was to use the rookie Solid Snake as a pawn to release false intelligence to confuse the enemies of Outer Heaven, that was the reason why a rookie such as Snake was given a mission of such importance. 100 floors deep underground, Snake engaged in this battle, no longer having anything to do with philosophical ideals or political power struggle, this battle between nothing more than one man against another man. Out of the crumbling Outer Heaven, only one of the two men resurfaced... After the crisis incident, FOX HOUND second in command Roy Campbell was promoted to Commander-in-Chief. The code name system was discarded. [Metal Gear] Hardware : MSX2 Released : 1987.7.12 The game that started the Metal Gear series. Since this game, MG staples such as the Cardboard Box and the Remote Control Missile (later renamed Nikita) were already present. The frequency radio system was already in use at this time, but character portraits during conversation wasn't yet implemented.
