The Great MGS3 Prediction! |
---|
I am Muni Nostradamus! I know all! Muwahahahahaha~!! (Coughs...) Let's see. Where do I start? The year - 1960's. Is Kojima trying to fool us with the 60's thing? If the game in fact takes place in 2060, then Snake would be 90 years old. That can't be right. Ocelot must be dead already in 2060, so Liquid would be gone too. Could it be Snake's son? Well, as a result of the "Les Enfants Terribles" project, the Snakes can't reproduce. So that's not a possibility either. So no, the year is indeed in the 1960's. That's one thing for sure. The place - Russia. From the images and maps at the official website, the location is Russia. Why Russia? The inventor of the first Metal Gear, Dr Pettrovich, was Russian. So it is safe to assume that he lived in Russia during the 1960's. Then there's Revolver Ocelot. He was in his 50's at Shadow Moses 2005. So him living in Russia during the 1960's is also highly probable. So two important characters of the MG series were in Russia at that time. Incidentally, Olga and Sergei Gurlukovich were also from Russia. So a Russian setting could indeed lead to very interesting possibilities. Well, that's all we know for sure at this time. Rumors, however, are galore. The biggest one would definitely be the Big Boss theory. With the same genetic construction as Snake, and the same outer appearance, this theory is highly convincing. And in the 1960's, Big Boss would be around 40 to 50 years old, so the age is approximately similar to the familiar Solid Snake's age. With the world being in turmoil in the 1960's, it is very likely that Big Boss did carry out secret missions all around the world, including Russia. This time, a secret mission to seek out a secret military lab facility hidden in a Russian jungle, to infiltrate the secret facility to destroy the secret weapon being developed there. A bi-pedal mobile tank. Being developed by a young scientist type (similar to Otacon), possibly named Dr Pettrovich. After a long and difficult battle, Big Boss successfully destroys the prototype bi-pedal mobile tank, and blows up the secret facility, and escapes out of Russia together with Dr Pettrovich. Then years later, Big Boss and Dr Pettrovich together create the first Metal Gear, and Outer Heaven. Doesn't sound too bad at all. Then there's the time machine theory. Even though everyone knows it's not really probable, but it's a fun theory to think about. Because this is the only way we can still be playing as our favorite agent Solid Snake. As the result of extensive studies and experimentations, Dr Hal Emmerich successfully creates a time machine. At the same time, Solid Snake is starting to suffer from fast aging. Realizing his life is at its end, Snake decides to go back in time and destroy the Metal Gear technology which had plagued his lifetime at its source. He rides on the experimental time machine, and goes back in time and helps Dr Pettrovich defect out of Russia to the free world, thus preventing him from ever taking part in the formation of Outer Heaven. The time machine theory, unlike the Big Boss theory, is full of holes. Even if Pettrovich doesn't participate in Outer Heaven, he could still be kidnapped during Zanzibarland. And even if he doesn't create the Metal Gear, it is going to be created by someone eventually. Besides, the enormous change in history is too sci-fi even for the MG series. It wouldn't be right to deem the original MG game non-existent completely. So though this theory is fun, it is not likely at all. Lastly, there's the complete VR simulation theory, which is not even interesting in my opinion, so I'm not going to get into it further. Personally, I wouldn't mind playing as Big Boss. I have wanted to play as him ever since the beginning. And what would be cool would be if MGS3 turned out to be in two different times, with two different main characters, like MGS2. Except this time, it's Big Boss and Solid Snake. Maybe the game can take place in two different times, but at the same location. Maybe the player will first get to infiltrate a certain government facility in the 1960's as the young Big Boss, and then get to venture into the same government facility again in the present time as Solid Snake. And what I really think would be cool would be if the player's actions in the past could affect the future. Such as if the player blew up a certain area of the government base or did certain actions to affect the environment in the 1960's, when the player enters the base again as Snake in the future, that area will still be destroyed, or certain paths will become blocked and inaccessible, or something along those lines. Now that, would be seriously cool. 5.14.03 |
